I mention that because the "sound" quality, while okay, is not what I have heard on many of the US released CD's to which I'm accustomed. It provides a biographic summary of Barbara's career but ends saying she was still touring, working the country circuit, and also in "cabaret." Barbara retired a number of years ago so it's obviously an older release. This compilation of Barbara's "Best of" has most of her better known hits. The sheet liner is somewhat dated as well. But I'm still glad I bought it and if you're a Barbara Mandrell fan, and if you can get it at a good price, buy it. The version of "I Was Country when Country Wasn't Cool" is the one with George Jones coming in, and her version of "Wish You Were Here" is one of my all time favorites. While I enjoyed the songs, this is apparently a CD that was originally released in the UK, according to the credits.
barbra mandrell, great voice, for country fans, or people who enjoy good music, wont be disappointed.she is underated.
To those people I say check your song tracks. Some reviews mention "wish you were here" being on this CD. That song came out in 1981 long before this best of was released. This CD was first released in 1979 on LP, and 8 track. It's a good CD with the high light of Barbara's late 70's career. I have it in all formats. Then came Cassette and finally CD. Most fans will have this if they collect everything Barbara.
A great collection. Finally, it (and many other cuts that have not been available) is on this CD. "Wish You Were Here" is one of my all time favorites by Barbara Mandrell. For some reason (probably legal issues) it has not been available on any of the Mandrell "Best Of" recordings.
i will buy more and more of her's. I like barbars singing very much.
